With the rising cost of everything that I can think of but
especially gas, now is the time for everyone to be thinking about living
greener. I don’t like the use of green because
it is an impossible goal for anyone to reach.
There are many things that each of us can do during the course of every
single day that will reduce waste and conserve energy. I am not the type to lecture on what other
people should do because it is up to every person to decide what is right for
them.
I for one am committing to not throwing away any more
aluminum cans. As a family we have made commitments
to conservation of electricity and loftier goals, but I sincerely believe that
every thing we do as individuals can have an impact. Not throwing away aluminum cans could be
viewed as a terribly low goal but it is a start. And people we need everyone to start somewhere.
I will never get into the whole global warming debate on
this site, although I am sure someone will eventually. But I am looking to make changes in the world
we live in regardless of who or what the reasons are. There are so many pressing issues that we as
a people and our environment face that it is time to stop debating and take
action. Take action any way you can and
kindly ask someone else to take a small step.
We will make a difference if we all try.
As Americans we should be leading the way for the world to
follow, we should be the first country that is completely independent of
foreign oil not the last. We should be
leading the world in the use of renewable energy, not trying to catch up. It is time to elect people who won’t cave to
the lure of big money corporations and demand that our elected officials
consider what we want for a change.
There aren’t going to be any tips about what you can do to
make a difference because you know exactly what should be done. Now it’s just a question of whether or not
you are willing to take that first step and hopefully the second and third. When you are really ready to make a
difference then write a letter to your congressperson and let them know how you
feel. Take a stand now while you still
can.
